B&D Industries, Inc.

B&D has performed several lighting retrofit projects for APS. The overall goal of the retrofits was to conserve energy in order to reduce the electricity costs for each school. Any cost savings as a result of the retrofits would be given back to that particular school to use as they deem fit. For this reason, many schools have become extremely pro-active in their energy conservation efforts.

All classroom and hallway retrofits included replacing incandescent or old T-12 fluorescent lamps and magnetic ballasts with newer T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts. In certain areas of the school (e.g. conference rooms, restrooms, store rooms) where lighting was not needed on a constant basis, motion sensors were installed so lights would come on only when the area was occupied.

All gymnasium lighting retrofits replaced old high intensity discharge (HID) metal halide or mercury vapor lamps with newer T-5 high output lamps and electronic ballasts.
