Historic Courtroom Restoration - Amy Biehl is an
APS charter high school that is located in the original New
Mexico Federal courthouse built in 1910, when New Mexico
was still a territory. B&D was hired to project manage the restoration
of the courtroom skylight, courtroom pillars, paneling and doorways.
The scope of work entailed removing the plaster covering the
skylight and finishing the plasterwork to match existing handcrafted
patterns. Sampling, testing and remediation of lead based paint from
the woodwork was required to safely complete the project. B&D installed lighting above the skylight to create the
illusion of outside illumination, and replaced the chandeliers and sconces
in the courtroom with replica lights to match the originally installed
fixtures. |
